The wealth of architectural sculpture in Berlage's Art Deco district (built between 1920-1940 in Amsterdam Zuid) is enormous. On bridges, facades and parks you'll find surprising sculptures full of symbolism. They tell the history of modern times 100 years ago.

Logistics Instructions

Start location : We start the tour at the Apollo House, Apollolaan 15, a modernist building from 1938. At the entrance there are two high bronze sculptures of Hildo Krop and Han Wezelaar. The statues symbolize the tasks of the Social Insurance Bank. You will get a short introduction about Plan Zuid by Berlage.

End location : The Berlage District tour ends at the Minervalaan. From this point you can easily walk to the Minervaplein where there is a bus and tram stop or back to the Apollo House where we started the tour.
