Come visit Lavra with Natalia, a professional tour guide! The oldest and the biggest standing monastery of Ukraine "KYIV-PERCHESK LAVRA", which is compared to the Roman Vatican, was founded almost 1000 years ago. Before long, it became the trend-setter for all other Rus' Orthodox monasteries. Today, it covers an area of about 28 hectares and is Ukraine's number one attraction! Lavra's biggest shrine is its Catacombs, which hold the imperishable relics of more than 122 saintly monks and persons. Of particular interest is that the monks’ bodies have been naturally preserved to this day! Furthermore, Lavra boasts one of Kyiv's best observation decks where you can enjoy a bird's eye view of Lavra's golden-domed churches, left-bank Kyiv and the Motherland Statue, which is taller than the Statue of Liberty in New-York! The Monastery's numerical strength is about 300 monks. The tour includes a visit to 3 churches with detailed explanations, the observation deck and a visit to the Catacombs.
