After the fall of Rome, Poreč came under the rule of numerous kingdoms and empires. Venetian, Austrian, Italian, Yugoslavian, and many other administrations defined the urban identity of the city. In particular, the 6th century Euphrasian Basilica is a perfect example of that, as it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. You should visit Poreč while in Istria, Croatia.
