The hotels atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly. The lobby is only reachable via a steep staircase so not suitable for elderly people or those with any walking difficulties. It also houses the breakfast room and is a lovely, bright and large room where you can envisage its former state in all its glory as it must have been a very grand building when first built.

The hotel is located on one of Amsterdams loveliest canals, lined with century old houses. Utrechtsestraat, shops and restaurant, and Rembrandsquare/flower and fleemarket all are in 5 min walking distance. Also good tramconnections to RAI centre, musea, Damplaza and shoppingcentre (10 min).

The hotel has no restaurant but its breakfast room is also the reception area and overlooks the beautiful gracht. This is a traditional, grand building with lovely features such as marble fireplaces and sash windows although these are not taken advantage of.
